The story
Alif moves between two worlds: Qalb-e-Momin, a young man who trades his artist's soul for worldly success, and Momina, a struggling actress whose grandfather's mysterious past binds their families together. The letters alif and laam, the beginning and the joining, run through everything.
Adapted from Umera Ahmed's novel by the writer herself and directed by Haseeb Hassan, the serial's meditation on art, memory and faith made it one of the decade's most beautiful productions, with Hamza Ali Abbasi, Sajal Aly and Kubra Khan in career-shaping roles.
