The story
Dastaan tells the story of partition through one family: a planned marriage, a border drawn through the middle of everything, and the long walk toward a country neither of them chose. Based on Razia Butt's novel Bano, it is history told as heartbreak.
Haissam Hussain directed, and Fawad Khan and Sanam Baloch gave the performances of their careers as Hassan and Bano. More than fifteen years on, it is still the benchmark for Pakistani period television, and nothing has seriously challenged it.
