The story
Humsafar is built on a marriage of convenience that becomes anything but convenient: a scholarship girl married into a family that never wanted her, a husband caught between his wife and his mother, and a separation engineered by cruelty that takes years to undo.
Farhat Ishtiaq's novel, Sarmad Khoosat's direction and the pairing of Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan made the 2011 serial the cornerstone of modern Pakistani television. Its title song, its dialogues and its final stretch are part of the culture. When people say a drama changed everything, this is usually the one they mean.
